Was sitting behind one of these chubby ass motherfuckers at a stoplight today, and when the light turned green, the better part of the engine gave up with a bang and a cloud of smoke and oil came out from the exhaust. There was still enough engine to keep wheezing with a sickly noise, but not to move the car... Poor passengers had to go out and help push it to the median.

So, you know, if you happen to end up in Porto Alegre during the world cup, or any other time in the future really, mind your public transportations, as some of these drivers are fucking insane, and the state of disrepair and filth their cars are in usually reflects that.

That looks like a bloated Chevrolet Aveo or something.

I watched that happen when I was coming home from Indianapolis on I-65. A Suburban going the other way had a massive engine blow-up that I had only seen in NASCAR races previous to that. As soon as I saw the huge plume of smoke, I knew that motor was a goner.

Are these actually related? The Aveo was never sold in Brazil, actually, but these Palio sedans are ubiquitous as taxis here, thanks to massive discounts given to fleet vehicles.

They might be, but I'm not sure. According to a quick glimpse at Wikipedia they appear to just be creations of Fiat, but judging by the looks of them I'm liking up a little bit of Daewoo.
